Stars Drop NACC Dual

The Dominican University women's tennis team hosted a pair of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) teams on Saturday, falling 7-2 to the Lakeland University Muskies before the Concordia Wisconsin Falcons topped the Stars, 9-0, in the second match of the day.

Freshman Sharon Neiza and Sophomore Heidi Carvajal both picked up NACC singles wins in flights three and one, respectively. Neiza topped Emma Sievers for the Falcons, 7-6 (9-7), 6-4, while Carvajal picked up her second singles win of the season.

"Doubles started out competitive, but we could not maintain consistency and execution to pull out a doubles match win," stated Troy Tonsil head women's tennis coach. "Our singles play showed a lot more fight, and some solid tennis. Despite the result, it was great to see Heidi and Sharon earn conference single wins, they have been playing good tennis over the last few matches."

The second match of the day saw a dominant Falcon squad take down the Stars, 9-0. "It was a very tough second half of the double header. The Falcons are by far the best team we have played this season. They capitalized on our mistakes early in the doubles matches, and carried the momentum into singles play."

The Stars travel down the street for the River Forest Rivalry on Tuesday, October 10th at 4:00 p.m. against the Concordia Chicago Cougars.
