The Dominican University women's soccer team remained perfect on the 2017 season, posting a 5-0 win over the North Park University Vikings on Wednesday afternoon at West Campus Field behind a four-goal effort from sophomore
Josseline Williams. With the win, the Stars move to 3-0-0 on the season, picking up their third straight shutout along the way.
"We came out sharp again," commented Carlos Carrillo, the Stars' head coach. "We were organized and moved the ball well…created some nice opportunities and got on the board early again."
Williams scored what proved to be the game-winning goal, her second game-winner of the season, in the tenth minute after
Alyssa Messina slid a pass that broke Williams behind the Vikings' backline before Williams rolled a low shot past North Park's Sydney Martinez and inside the far post.
Williams added her second goal of the match in the 36
th minute to give the Stars a 2-0 lead at the half.
In the second half, Williams added another pair of goals, this time just 11 minutes apart scoring in the 55
th and 66
th minutes before junior
Tania Paez added an insurance goal in the 67
th minute.
The Stars dominated possession throughout the match, outshooting the Vikings 20-1, putting nine shots on goals while allowing just one shot through to freshman goalkeeper
Abbey Brown.
The Stars will now hit the road for the first time in 2017, traveling to Ohio for the weekend, taking on Denison University on Saturday in Granville, Ohio, before heading to Gambier, Ohio, to meet Kenyon College on Sunday.
