Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Stars Fall Prey To Cougars

The Dominican University men's basketball team were downed in the River Forest Rivalry Series on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Concordia University Chicago Cougars 77-63 to fall to 4-12 on the season and 2-10 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC).  The Stars split the season series with their neighborhood rivals, topping the Cougars at home back on January 3 before dropping Saturday's game at the Cougars' Geiseman Gymnasium.

Tim Robertson scored a team-high 19 points in the losing effort.  The senior shot 7-for-11 from the field as Dominican converted at a 44-percent clip from the field but turned the ball over 19 times, leading to 24 Cougar points.

Dominican opened the game on a 15-2 run that spanned the first five minutes of play before Concordia Chicago scored 18 of the next 19 points to open a 20-16 lead.  A quick 7-0 run for Dominican put the Stars back in front before the host Cougars outscored the Stars 21-7 over the final seven minutes to take a 41-30 lead at the break.

The Stars twice cut the Cougars' lead down to six points in the second half but Concordia answered each time to hold on for the win.

Jonny Woolf and Domenic Aiello joined Robertson in double-figures, chipping in 15 and 11 respectively.

For the Cougars, Jalen Meeks led the way with a game-high 22 points on 9-for-16 shooting and pulled down ten boards for the double-double.  Mitch Pelissier added 20 points while Justin Schwarz finished with ten points in the win.

The Stars will hit the road on Tuesday, traveling up to Sheboygan, Wisconsin, to meet the Lakeland University Muskies.  Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
