The Dominican University men's basketball team came up short against the Marian University Sabres, 77-65, on Saturday afternoon in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. The loss drops the Stars to 4-8 overall and 2-6 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) with a three-game week on tap for the Stars, starting with a trip to Madison, Wisconsin, on Tuesday for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff at Edgewood College.
Trailing by ten with 13:30 to play, the Stars used an 11-0 run, capped by an
Isaac Moore three, to take a 54-53 lead with 9:18 to play. Marian answered with its own 17-2 run, opening a 14-point, 70-56, lead with three minutes to go and put the Stars away.
Tim Robertson scored a team-high 14 points on the day, shooting 4-for-10 from the field in 30 minutes.
Isaac Moore added 13 points off the bench while
Jonny Woolf rounded out three in double-figures with 12 points, scoring ten in the second half.
As a team, the Stars shot better than 45-percent from the field, 23-for-51, including converting on 11 of 23 attempts from three-point distance.
Alex Manhardt scored a game-high 19 points on 7-for-10 shooting to lead the Sabres. The senior added 11 rebounds for the double-double.
