Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Stars Sweep Sabres To Win Fourth Straight

The Dominican University women's volleyball team improved to 5-1 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) and 13-6 overall with a three-set (25-21, 25-17, 25-20) win over the Marian University Sabres in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, on Friday night.

"I'm really happy with how the team played tonight," commented Cameron Andrew, the Stars' first-year head coach. "We did a great job controlling all aspects of the game. I'm sure the team wanted to look past this one to Concordia Wisconsin tomorrow, but I'm glad we were able to buckle down and take care of business.  We played probably the most complete and consistent match we've played in weeks.  I'm glad to be back on that track."

The Stars hit .157 in the winning effort, scoring 46 points (38 kills, three aces and five blocks) for the match.  Gabija Sinickaite led the way with 11.5 points on ten kills and three block assists.  Summer Smith added eight kills and a block assist while Stephanie Cole finished with six kills and a pair of block assists.

Anastasia Labadessa ran the offense to a .157 hitting percentage, utilizing five different attackers to pick up 31 assists.  The Stars' sophomore setter also collected three kills of her own and an ace at the serving line.

In the back row, Megan Parker collected a match-high 15 digs as Dominican held the host Sabres to a .045 attack percentage.  Smith added 11 digs of her own while Gillian Jones and Labadessa tallied nine digs apiece.

The Stars will return to the court on Saturday, taking on the preseason NACC favorites from Concordia Wisconsin at noon in Mequon, Wisconsin.
