Stars Stumble In Non-Conference Play

The Dominican University men's basketball team dropped their final non-conference game of the 2018-2019 season on Wednesday night, falling to the North Park University Vikings 72-58 at the Igini Sports Forum.  The loss drops the Stars to 2-8 overall, closing out the 2018 portion of the schedule, resuming play on January 3 at Marian University.

Trailing by ten at the break, 39-29, the Stars used a 9-1 run early in the second half to trim the Vikings' lead to one, 47-46, when Sean Ek hit Antonio Amoah for a layup on the break.  North Park hit threes on its next three possessions, going on their own 15-1 run over the next four and half minutes to push the lead back to 15, 62-47, squashing the Stars' hopes for a come-from-behind win.

The Stars shot just over 31-percent from the field, 22-for-70, including hitting three of 25 attempts from three-point range.  Dominican did own a 47-35 advantage on the glass, including pulling down 16 offensive rebounds.  Senior Isaac Moore paced the Stars in the loss, dropping in 14 points on 5-for-14 shooting while Arrin Westbrook came off the bench to add 11 points in 27 minutes.

For the Vikings, Toby Marek scored a game-high 15 points on 7-for-17 shooting to lead three in double-figures.  Matt Szuba added 11 points and pulled down 12 boards for a double-double while Izaiah Sanders finished with 14 points in 23 minutes.
