The Dominican University men's basketball team was done in by a 13-0 run to open Wednesday night's Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) game at Illinois Tech, falling 72-55 to the host Scarlet Hawks.

"We have been making gradual progress as a team over the last few games," commented Mark White, the Stars' head men's basketball coach, "but tonight was a step backwards. Our compete level was very low and we just didn't have the focus necessary to win a conference road game."
 
The Stars managed to angle the Illinois Tech lead down to six midway through the first half before a quick 11-0 run for the Scarlet Hawks pushed the lead back up to 17 with 6:10 to play in the first half.  Dominican again chipped away, pulling within eight, 34-26, on Antonio Amoah's three-point play on the break before Illinois Tech scored the next six points and led 42-30 at the break.
 
Illinois Tech shot near sixty percent in the first half, shooting 18-for-31 from the field, while the Stars managed to convert at just a 32-percent clip from the field.  Coming off a season-best 19 points on Saturday, Isaac Moore scored all 13 of his points in the opening half, providing the Stars with a spark off the bench.
 
Illinois Tech went on to outscore the Stars 30-25 in the second half, never allowing Dominican closer than ten points the rest of the night.
 
Moore finished with a team-high 13 points on 4-for-8 shooting while Amoah finished with ten of his own off the Dominican bench.
 
For the Scarlet Hawks, Anthony Mosely Jr. led three in double-figures scoring, pouring in a game-high 27 points on 11-for-16 shooting while Jake DiGiorgio added 12 points and pulled down a game-high 17 rebounds.
 
Dominican, now 1-4 on the season, returns to River Forest for their home opener on Saturday, hosting the Benedictine University Eagles for a 4:15 p.m. tipoff.
