Stars Trade Lopsided Wins With Falcons

After dropping game one of a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) doubleheader to the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons, 9-1 in six innings, the Stars returned the favor with an 8-2 win in game two in Mequon, Wisconsin, on Wednesday.  The split pushes the Stars to 9-15 overall and 3-5 in conference play.

Cat Klostermann took the game one loss, allowing three runs on four hits and five walks over 2.2 innings of work.  The loss drops the Stars' ace to 4-8 on the season despite just a 2.89 earned run average in over 65 innings of work.

The Stars managed just four hits in the loss, including a solo home run for Marissa Burns in the top of the sixth as the Stars pulled within 4-1 before the Falcons rallied for five runs in the bottom of the inning.

Game two saw Sydney Kuderna go the distance to pick up the win for the Stars. The junior left-hander surrendered just two runs on six hits while striking out two over seven innings.

The Falcons scored a single run in the top of the first before Dominican scored eight straight between the third and sixth innings.  A run scoring single for CJ Mardirosian sparked a four-run third inning for the Stars.  Kuderna helped her own cause in the top of the fourth with an RBI single before Mardirosian drove in her third run of the game with a double to left in the top of the sixth.

Mardirosian was one of five hitters with two hits in the Stars' lineup, including Klostermann who had a pair of doubles and Kuderna who went 2-for-5 in the leadoff spot.

The Stars will return home to host the Lakeland University Muskies on Sunday at the Ballpark at Rosemont.  First pitch in the NACC doubleheader is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
