Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Stars Sweep Foresters

The Dominican University women's volleyball team won their third straight contest, topping the Lake Forest College Foresters in three sets (25-16, 25-16, 25-20) on Saturday afternoon in Lake Forest, Illinois.  With the win, the Stars improve to 7-5 on the season.

"This was another all-around team win," said Cameron Andrew, the Stars' head women's volleyball coach. "We got contributions from so many different people today and that was really great to see.  We've done a great job over the last two matches with our discipline on blocking and defense.  Our defenders have felt like their jobs are really easy and that means our block has been doing a nice job of getting set and closed."

The Stars managed to slow the Foresters' offense to an .054 attack percentage with just 28 kills on 93 attempts while forcing Lake Forest into 23 errors.  Summer Smith led the back row effort with ten digs while at the net, Olivia Magnussen posted four total blocks, three solo and one assisted.

Offensively, Anastasia Labadessa and Madi Palmer shared setting responsibilities, doling out 13 assists apiece while Elin Ream knocked down a team-high nine kills, hitting .571 on her 14 attempts.  As a team, the Stars converted at a .272 clip, posting 32 kills on 81 swings while limiting their errors to just ten.

"Three wins in a row is great," said Andrew. "Now we need to get back out there and get another conference win on Tuesday."

The Stars will return to the Igini Sports Forum for matches on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, hosting the Benedictine University Eagles for a conference tilt at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Augustana College on Wednesday in a non-conference matchup.
