Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Stars Lose Shootout With Raiders

The Dominican University men's soccer team could not overcome an early two-goal deficit, falling 3-2 to the MSOE Raiders on Wednesday night at Veits Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  The loss is the Stars' first in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play, dropping Dominican to 5-3-0 overall and 2-1-0 in conference.

The Raiders opened the scoring in the 20th minute after a Dominican foul gave the Raiders a restart in the attacking third. Zach Hanson then was able to flick Konrad Knap's restart service past Dominican's Daniel Dominguez for the 1-0 advantage.  Five minutes later Dominican was whistled for another foul, this time in the penalty box, setting up Joey Schauer for a penalty kick goal.

The Stars answered back less than two minutes later when Alexander Lulek's throw-in skipped off Carlos Ramos's head and Daniel Kulawiak's head before Mateusz Pasula tapped it in for his first goal of the season, pulling Dominican within 2-1.

MSOE pushed the lead back to two before the half when Rade Novakovich gained the endline on the left side before slipping a pass back towards the top of the box where Albert Carson one-touched a shot towards the far post and past Dominguez.

Dominican again pulled within one goal in the 70th minute when Benji Ibarra stopped the Raiders from clearing their defensive end before slipping a pass towards the endline for Josh Prindle.  Prindle's centering pass made its way through traffic to the center of the goal where Nicolo Vitale tapped in for his fourth of the season.

The Stars nearly netted the equalizer minutes later when Prindle's blocked shot bounced off the turf and skipped over MSOE goalkeeper Ron Marchionna.  Vitale continued to press forward sliding for a shot that was cleared out of the box by an MSOE defender.

MSOE held a 12-8 advantage in shots with Dominican getting off five shots in the second half to the Raiders' four.  Shots on goal favored the Raiders by a 6-4 margin with Dominguez forced to make three saves in the loss for Dominican.
