Stars Drop Conference Duals

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Dominican University women's tennis team dropped a pair of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) dual matches on Saturday, falling to the Marian University Sabres, 9-0, in the morning match before suffering an 8-1 loss to the Lakeland University Muskies in the afternoon.

"There was some good takeaways from the day," said Troy Tonsil, the Stars' second-year head coach. "We had several players get a few games under their belt, especially our freshmen, and it was good to see Heidi Carvajal get her first singles' win of the season—I think more are in store for her. Overall we have more work ahead of us, but we will get there, looking to improve each and every match."

Carvajal tallied Dominican's lone point, knocking off Lakeland's Ellie Roe, 6-2, 6-3.

The Stars, now 0-3 on the season, return to action next Saturday, hosting the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks and Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons for a pair of conference matches in Forest Park, Illinois.
