The Dominican University women's basketball team never trailed, leading for more than 38 minutes, in a 57-39 win over the visiting MSOE Raiders on Wednesday night at the Igini Sports Forum. The Stars closed out the first quarter with a 9-0 run, opening a 15-6 lead at the end of the first quarter and then put the Raiders away midway through the fourth quarter behind another 9-0 spurt.
With the win the Stars improve to 10-6 on the season and 7-6 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play
Hannah Currant came off the Stars bench to score a game-high 12 points on 6-for-10 shooting from the field. The freshman scored eight of her 12 points in the first half, reaching double-digits for the third time on the season.
Alisha Markley added 11 points on an efficient 5-for-8 shooting while
Amari Stafford chipped in nine in the winning effort.
As a team, Dominican shot better than 40-percent from the field, 22-for-54, and converted on ten of 14 attempts from the foul line.
The Raiders, paced by Mikelle Miles's nine points, shot just 26-percent from the field, managing just 13 field goals for the night.
Dominican will look to keep its momentum going on Saturday, traveling up to Milwaukee for a 7:00 p.m. game at Alverno College.
