The Dominican University women's soccer team won their eighth straight and second in as many days, topping the Alverno College Inferno 7-0 on Thursday afternoon on the road in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dominican's
Regan Coxon netted a hat trick for the third time this season, scoring three goals while
Josseline Williams became the Dominican University all-time leader in goals scored with 85 after scoring two more goals in the win.
"To be able to come back on short rest after last night was great to see," said
Carlos Carrillo, the Stars' head women's soccer coach. "Our goal is to play back-to-back days in mid-November but it is good to know that we have that experience under our belt now. It can only make us better come postseason."
The Stars left little doubt in Thursday's win, knocking in two goals before ten minutes had gone by. Williams netted the game's first goal, the eventual game-winner, in just the seventh minute of play. Three minutes later it was
Gabby Green finding the back goal for her third of the season.
Coxon added the next three, putting home three goals in a six-minute span between the 47
th and 53
rd minute. After Williams added her second of the match,
Denisse Avila capped the day with her goal of the season in the 89
th minute.
The Stars dominated possession throughout the 90 minutes, holding the host Inferno without a shot while peppering the Inferno goal with 40 shots, 20 on frame.
Dominican, now 11-1-0 on the year and a perfect 6-0-0 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play, will enjoy a day of rest on Friday before returning to action on Saturday, hosting the Lakeland University Muskies for a 2:45 p.m. kickoff at West Campus Field.
