Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Stars Roll Red Devils

The Dominican University women's volleyball team swept through the Eureka College Red Devils (25-17, 25-17, 25-23) on Tuesday night in non-conference action to improve to 12-4 on the season.  The Stars return to Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play this weekend, traveling to Madison, Wisconsin, to take on the Edgewood College Eagles on Friday night before heading to Rockford, Illinois, for a matchup with the Rockford University Regents on Saturday.

"We put together a solid match tonight," commented Cameron Andrew, the Stars' head women's volleyball coach. "Truly a team win with everyone contributing to our success. We've been focusing on maintaining discipline throughout the entire match and I thought we did a better job of that tonight despite a little dip in the third set.  However, we recovered and were able to regain that discipline and close out the match. Now we need to carry that over into a key conference match at Edgewood Friday night."

The Stars, paced by Gabija Sinickaite's match-high 14 kills, hit .183 in the winning effort. On a total of 23 attack attempts over the three sets, Sinickaite committed just two errors, hitting .522 on the night.  The sophomore standout added one solo block and one block assist to score 15.5 total points in the win.

Anastasia Labadessa and Natalie Jones ran the offense, doling out 17 and 11 assists respectively and using nine different attackers.  Olivia Magnussen went for four kills on five swings, hitting .800, while freshman Ola Magiera hit .444, knocking down five kills on nine attempts with just one error.

Defensively, the Stars allowed just 19 kills to the host Red Devils, slowing down the Eureka attack to a .042 hitting percentage.  Lauren LaVigne led the back row effort with a match-high 12 digs. Sarah Lychock added ten digs of her own.  At the net Sinickaite and Vicky Krzyszkowski posted two total blocks apiece.
