Stars Downed By Eagles

The Dominican University women's volleyball team lost a defensive battle at Edgewood College on Friday evening, falling to the Eagles in five sets (25-23, 17-25, 21-25, 25-18, 15-11).  With the loss, the Stars drop to 12-5 on the season and 1-2 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC).  The Stars will look to get back on course Saturday, traveling to Rockford University for a 5:30 p.m. match against the Regents.
 
The Stars offense managed to hit at just a .047 clip, committing 30 errors while managing 37 kills on 149 total attempts.  Trying to close out the match in the fourth and fifth sets, the Stars committed a total of 12 errors while knocking down just 12 kills over the two sets.
 
Gabija Sinickaite totaled a team-high 11 kills on 27 attack attempts while Keely McCallum added nine kills on 26 attempts.  Anastasia Labadessa and Natalie Jones ran the Stars' 6-2 offense, collecting 21 and ten assists respectively.
 
Defensively, Sarah Lychock collected a team-high 21 digs as the Stars slowed the Eagles to a .114 hitting percentage.  At the net, Dominican totaled nine blocks. Gillian Jones got in on seven of the Stars' blocks with six block assists and one solo block.  McCallum added to her nine kills with six block assists for a total of 12 points in the loss.
