The Dominican University women's soccer team rolled to an 11-0 win over the Rockford College Regents on Tuesday evening, opening Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play and improving to 6-1-0 on the season. The match was the first of a back-to-back for the Stars who will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon, kicking off against the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks at 4:00 p.m. at Dominican's West Campus Field.
"It is nice to start conference play with a win, especially on the road," said
Carlos Carrillo, the Stars' head women's soccer coach. "We will need to be ready to go on Wednesday as we have a tough home match against Illinois Tech. We will need to be sharp."
Regan Coxon and
Josseline Williams each netted a hat trick while
Ashleigh Huerta knocked in two goals of her own for eight of Dominican's 11 scores.
Sammy Hatfield,
Michelle Ulloque and
Hannah DiSilverio rounded out the scoring. Coxon added a pair of assists for an eight point effort.
The Stars smothered the Regents with a relentless attack, peppering the Rockford goal with 50 shots including 32 on frame. That relentless attack combined with a stingy back line did not surrender a single shot to the Regents.
Wednesday's match against the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks is a rematch of the 2018 NACC Tournament Championship and pits the teams picked to finish first and second in the 2019 NACC Preseason Poll. Dominican has scored 25 goals through its first seven matches while surrendering just three. The Scarlet Hawks (3-4-0) have managed just 14 goals through their first seven contests while giving up 15 goals.
