The Dominican University men's soccer team scored their third straight win and fifth straight shutout with a 3-0 win over the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors on Saturday afternoon in Milwaukee. The win improves the Stars overall record to 6-2-2 and pushes Dominican to 2-0-0 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC).
Three different players scored for the Stars in the winning effort with
Vicente Castro credited with the game-winner. The freshman dribbled into the 18-yard box for just beyond midfield before curling a low shot to the far post in the 24
th minute.
Denis Soldo added a first half tally, his first of the season, in the 32
nd minute before
Isaac Perez put home his fifth goal of the season in the 48
th minute to round out the scoring.
The Stars held a marked advantage in shots, 21-8, putting ten shots on goal while allowing just one shot on frame to their NACC counterpart. Dominican's
Daniel Dominguez, playing the first 62 minutes in goal, made one save while combining with
Hunter Faurbo for the Stars' seventh shutout of the season.
"We scored three nice goals in our shutout win today," said
Erick Baumann, the Stars' head men's soccer coach, "but we know we can be better than we were today."
The Stars will return to action on Wednesday, hosting the Rockford University Regents in a conference affair in River Forest, Illinois. Kickoff is slated for 4:00 p.m. at Dominican's West Campus Field.
