Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Coxon Scores Five As Stars Batter Warriors

The Dominican University women's soccer team continued its dominance of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC), winning their 18th straight conference match dating back to October 2017, with an 8-1 win over the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors on the road in Milwaukee Saturday afternoon.  Freshman Regan Coxon scored five goals in the winning effort.

"Though we won today's match convincingly," said Carlos Carrillo, the Stars' head coach, "we have a lot of improving to do to get to where we want to be. Monday we will get back at it and work to improve."

Coxon and the Stars wasted little time with the rookie scoring the first of her five goals in just the second minute of play.  Coxon then scored a pair of goals in the 24th minute just 47 seconds apart before Denisse Avila rounded out the first half scoring with her first goal of the season in the 25th minute.

The Warriors cracked the scoreboard in the 49th minute when Kendra Schumacher netted her team-leading fourth goal of the season. The shot was the lone shot on goal for the Warriors in the match.

Dominican then scored the game's final four goals with Coxon scoring in the 50th and 60th minute before Avila notched her second goal of the match in the 63rd minute.  Ashleigh Huerta then capped the day's scoring with her third goal of the season in the 70th minute of play.

The Stars, now 8-1-0 on the season and 3-0-0 in league play, return to action on Wednesday, heading back to Milwaukee to take on the Alverno College Inferno.  Kickoff is slated for 4:00 p.m.
