Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Stars Top The Muskies

The Dominican University women's basketball team cruised to its 11th win of the season, topping the Lakeland University Muskies 78-50 to improve to 11-4 on the season and 7-3 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC).  The Stars return to action on Wednesday, traveling to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for a matchup with the MSOE Raiders.

"We got off to a slow start which is not ideal against a good team like Lakeland," commented Amanda Parker, the Stars' head coach, "but we managed to get back to our game plan and turned things around. I am thoroughly excited with where we are as a team right now. We are clicking and it is great to see. We will continue to stay grounded and keep improving whenever we have the opportunity."

With the Muskies leading 22-21 midway through the second quarter, the Stars used a 12-1 run to close the half and open a ten-point, 33-23, lead at the break and never looked back.

Alexis Hoskins scored ten of her game-high 19 points in the third quarter.  The Stars' senior guard added seven rebounds, three blocks and three steals while logging a team-high 34 minutes of floor time.  Timiya Ray added 12 points and grabbed 16 boards for her sixth double-double of the season and tallied seven assists while Alisha Markley finished with 12 points in 15 minutes of work.

For the Muskies, Megan Will led the way with 13 points.
