The Dominican University men's volleyball team moved to a perfect 10-0 on the season, sweeping the Augustana College Vikings (25-15, 25-15, 25-19) at the Igini Sports Forum on Friday night. The Stars hit an impressive .303 behind setter
Jack McGuire and posted 12 total blocks at the net to limit the Vikings' attack to a .000 hitting percentage.
"I'm proud of our guys' focus tonight," said
Cameron Andrew, the Stars' head coach. "We had a relatively complex game plan and I'm excited about how they executed it. It wasn't perfect, but we were locked in for a really good portion of that match."
"We still have yet to have a match were everyone is clicking," continued Andrew, "but we've had at least one guy really step up and shoulder the load each match. Last Saturday it was
George Kougan and tonight it was
Ethan Klosak. Once we have a night where everyone is really on their game, we are going to be a very scary team…tomorrow is a chance for us to do that."
McGuire doled out 26 assists, connecting with Klosak for a team-high nine kills on just 16 swings. Kougan added eight kills on 23 attempts while
Jake Sidner finished with six kills.
Defensively,
Bregin DeMarco patrolled the back row, picking up a team-high 12 digs while
Patrick Bradford led the charge at the net with seven block assists.
Dominican will look to extend its winning streak to 11 matches on Saturday afternoon, hosting the Loras College Duhawks for a 1:00 p.m. match at the Igini Sports Forum.
