Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Stars Downed By Scarlet Hawks

The Dominican University men's basketball team slipped to 8-13 on the season and 4-12 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC), suffering an 81-61 setback at the hands of the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks on the road in Chicago on Saturday afternoon.  The Stars will look to get back into the win column on Wednesday, traveling to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, to take on the Marian University Sabres. Tipoff in that one is slated for 7:00 p.m.

"We really struggled today on both ends of the floor," said Mark White, the Stars' head men's basketball coach. "Coming off a stretch of games where we competed very well, today was an overall flat performance."

Dylan Anderson came off the bench to pace the Stars, scoring 14 points in 23 minutes on 4-for-9 shooting, including 4-for-8 from three.  Dennis Handy added 13 in the losing effort while Jackson Smith extended his streak of games in double-figures, scoring 11 points on 5-for-11 shooting in 34 minutes of work.

As a team, Dominican shot just .386 from the field, 22-for-57, including 10-for-27 from three.  The Scarlet Hawks converted at a .478 clip from the field, connecting on 33 of 69 attempts, including going 8-for-16 from three.  Illinois Tech also won the battle on the glass, pulling down 41 rebounds to the Stars 33 and forced 15 Dominican turnovers while turning the ball over just nine times.

Miles Curry led the way for Illinois Tech, pouring in a game-high 27 points on 10-for-16 shooting in 31 minutes.  Max Hisatake added 16 points and 20 rebounds while Milos Dugalic rounded out three in double-figures with 14 points.
