RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Dominican University's women's soccer program used three second-half goals to defeat St. Norbert College 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play.
Both sides started slowly as they battled to a 0-0 draw in the first 45 minutes. DU came out with renewed energy in the second-half, creating several scoring chances in the first five minutes. The Stars were rewarded in the 52nd minute with a goal from
Katie Norlie after a bouncing ball in the box was headed into her path by
Ashleigh Huerta.
Dominican struck again on a beautiful, training-ground move in the 56th minute. Huerta ran down the right wing and played a cross into
Hannah Anderson, who back-heeled the ball into
Regan Coxon's path for a tap-in. Coxon then returned the favor to Anderson in the 78th minute when Coxon's long-throw was flicked on by Anderson and went through the clutches of the SNC goalkeeper.
The Stars saw that lead to the finish line, moving to 6-0 in NACC play, and 8-1-2 overall, winning their seventh-straight match. Coxon has now scored in six straight for DU. Dominican will face Marian on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 4 p.m. on West Campus Field. Live coverage will be available on dustars.com.
