RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Dominican University's women's volleyball program swept Lakeland College on Saturday, earning its first Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) victory of 2021.
DU pulled off a tight 25-23 win in the opening set and never looked back, winning the final two frames 25-18 and 25-13, respectively.
Gabija Sinickaite led the offensive effort with 12 kills while
Emily Schellhase chipped in 10 to join her in double-digits.
Maya Green continues to improve in her freshman campaign, racking up eight kills at a blistering .500 clip. DU's middles
Keely McCallum and
Morgan Parsons combined for 14 kills, hitting over .500 in the match.
On defense,
Sarah Lychock had a game-high 19 digs, adding two assists. She now has double-digit digs in nine straight matches for Dominican. Both Green and Schellhase also posted double-digit digs, finishing with 13 and 12, respectively. For Schellhase, it is her second double-double of the season and her second in DU's last three matches.
The Stars will look to build a win streak in NACC competition their next time out, facing off with Illinois Tech on the road on Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. Links to live coverage will be available via dustars.com.
