RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Dominican University's women's soccer team advanced to the semifinals of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Tournament with a 4-2 home victory against Marian on Sunday afternoon.
DU got on the board early with goals from
Daniela Tovar-Miranda and
Alexandria Canarelli in the opening 15 minutes. Marian would respond, however, with two tallies in the final 15 minutes to even the match a 2-all at the halftime break.
A resurgent Dominican came out energized in the final half, eventually being rewarded with a converted
Regan Coxon penalty kick in the 57th minute. Coxon scored her second goal of the day a short time later, which was assisted by
Hannah Anderson, to regain the Stars' two-goal advantage. DU held strong in the back end for the final 30 minutes, securing the 4-2 victory.
The third-seeded Stars will face second-seeded MSOE in Milwaukee, Wis. at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3. Links to live coverage will be available at dustars.com.
