RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Dominican University's women's soccer team secured a dramatic, come-from-behind win to defeat Hanover College 2-1 in the First Round of the 2021 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship on Saturday in St. Louis.
DU trailed 1-0 at the halftime break, but came out firing from the start of the second half. The Stars were eventually rewarded in the 75th minute when
Hannah Anderson equalized off an assist from
Alexandria Canarelli. With less than three minutes remaining,
Regan Coxon found the net to put DU ahead to stay, finishing off the victory and advancing the Stars to the Second Round. The win for Dominican is the first-ever NCAA Tournament victory for the women's soccer program.
The Stars will face off with host-WashU tomorrow, Sunday, Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. on Francis Field in St. Louis. Links to live coverage will be available via dustars.com.
