RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Dominican University's men's basketball program won its first game of the 2021-22 campaign on Thursday night, defeating Maranatha Baptist University 77-60 on the road in non-conference play.
Jackson Smith scored 13 first-half points, helping DU to a 36-30 halftime lead. The Stars continued to stretch their lead in the second half, outscoring MBU by 11 points to claim a convincing 77-60 road victory.
Smith finished with 18 points and was joined by
Jacob Riedl and
Chris Daniels II, who also scored 18 in the game. Riedl added 11 rebounds for a double-double and made all six of his free throw attempts.
Robert Taylor was the fourth Star in double-figures, finishing with 12 points and three rebounds. DU outrebounded MBU 42-34 and turned that into 20 second-chance points.
