Women's Basketball Downed by Elmhurst

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Dominican University's women's basketball team suffered a 72-60 setback to Elmhurst University at home on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
 
DU started off with 19 first-quarter points, holding a 19-14 lead at the end of one. Dominican stretched this advantage to six at the halftime break, ahead 37-31 after two quarters. The Stars held off Elmhurst in the third quarter, outscoring the Bluejays 17-16 in the third frame. The Bluejays, however, used a furious 25-6 fourth-quarter flurry to sink DU, 72-60.
 
Alisha Markley led the scoring effort for Dominican, totaling 15 points on 3-of-9 shooting from deep. Stephenee Huggans had a team-high six rebounds and adding 14 points, going 6-for-17 from the field. Mackenzie Coleman also scored in double-digits for DU, finishing with 10 points courtesy of two threes and two field goals. 
 
As a team, DU was 2-of-11 at the free throw line while Elmhurst finished 24-for-30. Dominican forced 23 Bluejay turnovers and scored 22 points off those. 
 
The Stars prepare for their NACC slate as they take on Benedictine on the road on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. in Lisle, Ill. Links to live coverage will be available via dustars.com.
