CHAMPS! Women's Soccer Wins NACC Postseason Title, Punches Ticket to NCAA Tournament with 2-1 Defeat of IIT

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Dominican University's women's soccer team defeated Illinois Tech 2-1 on Saturday in front of a raucous crowd on West Campus Field to secure the 2021 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Tournament Championship.

The win gives the Stars the NACC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, of which the field will be announced on Monday, Nov. 8 at noon p.m. CT.

Both sides battled to a scoreless halftime score in a back-and-forth affair which featured scoring chances for both sides. Dominican struck first, however, just over a minute into the second half when Regan Coxon found Hannah Anderson for a goal in the 46th minute.

The Stars continued on the front foot, scoring again to take a commanding 2-0 advantage as Coxon headed home a free kick from Alexandria Canarelli in the 50th minute.  IIT did produce a response in the 71st minute to pull within one, but DU's defense held strong in the final 20 minutes, finishing off the 2-1 victory.
