River Forest, IL – The Dominican University men's soccer team were able to edge out an overtime victory against Aurora.
The first half would see both teams go scoreless. Stars would outshoot the Spartans 7-6 but couldn't connect.
The game would break its scoreless streak in the 75
th minute when
Garrett Boston would set up
Adrian Pituch for his first goal of the season to give the Stars the lead. The lead would be short lived as Aurora would put up a score in the 79
th minute to even the score at one. Both teams would exchange shots heading into the end of regulation but were unable to break the tie as the game would go into overtime.
Pituch's number would be called again in the 96
th minute as he would punch in the eventual game winner to secure the Stars' 2-1 victory.
Head Coach
Erick Baumann commented on the win after the game,"That was another exciting, hard-fought, match tonight. The group has really come together and are as tight as we've ever been. They are playing hard and competing for each other's success."
Baumann also commented on the play of Pituch and other contributing players. "Pituch came up big tonight scoring those two goals and the assists by Boston and (Vicente) Castro were really well delivered to him. We need the day off tomorrow and get some rest to recover but I am looking forward to getting back on the field Friday to prepare for Sunday."
The Stars are back in action on Sunday as they take on Concordia Chicago in what will be anticipated rivalry match-up.
