Eagles Soar Past Stars

Schaumburg, IL – The Dominican University baseball team struggled getting it going offensively Sunday afternoon dropping two conference games to Benedictine 12-0 in game one before dropping game two 6-0.

Game One:

The Eagles started the scoring in the top of the second inning off of an error by the Stars. Benedictine hit a triple to bring the runner home from first making it 1-0. Benedictine would then score again in the top of the third inning to extend their lead to 2-0.

In the top of the fourth inning, the Stars couldn't slow the Eagles down as they continued to bring five runners around the bases to increase their lead to 7-0. Benedictine added another run at the top of the fifth before adding four more runs in the top of the seventh to seal the 12-0 win.

Game Two:

The Eagles kept their momentum going in game two as they scored two apiece in the top of the first and second inning to give them an early 4-0 lead.

The score would remain 4-0 through the next four innings before Benedictine brought another runner around the bases in the top of the seventh and top of the eighth inning to secure the 6-0 win.

"These were very tough games to watch today," said Head Coach Steve Hardman. "We played uninspired and undisciplined."

The Stars return to action tomorrow Monday, April 15th as they look to bounce back in a rematch against the Eagles with a start time of 3:00 p.m.
