ELMHURST, Ill. – Dominican University's women's soccer team grinded out a 1-0 victory in its season opener on the road, defeating the Elmhurst University Bluejays on Wednesday evening in non-conference action.
Katie Norlie latched on to a loose ball in the box and fired home for her first goal of the season to put DU up 1-0 in the 17th minute. The Stars continued to apply pressure throughout the match, but rode that early advantage to the finish line to open their 2021 campaign 1-0.
Rachel Huser earned the shutout between the pipes.
As a team, the Stars racked up 17 shots, 13 on target, compared to Elmhurst's 5, three on target. Dominican also totaled nine corner kick opportunities as it continued to show its force in the attacking end.
DU gets back on the pitch on Saturday, Sept. 4, taking on Loras College on the road at noon from Dubuque, Iowa.
