DUBUQUE, Iowa – Dominican University's women's soccer team suffered a road non-conference defeat to Loras College on Saturday afternoon, falling 1-0.
Dominican hung tough in the first half, nearly scoring on a miscue from the Duhawks, but the ball rolled along the goal line and out of play. A short time later, Loras broke the deadlock with a goal in the 33rd minute and took that 1-0 advantage into half.
After the half, both sides continued to battle it out, but neither could score in the final 45 minutes.
Ashleigh Huerta registered two shots, both of which were on target.
Katie Norlie had the Stars' other shot on net while
Regan Coxon also had a shot in the match. DU was outshot 22-4, however just 8-3 in shots on target.
The Stars play next on Saturday, Sept. 11 at noon as they take on UW-La Crosse on the road. Coverage will be available on dustars.com.
