RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Dominican University men's soccer team got back to their winning ways as the Stars dominated Lake Forest 4-1 on West Campus Field on Saturday afternoon.
The scoring would start early as the Stars would capitalize on a penalty kick by
Vicente Castro in the 10th minute of play to give the Stars an early 1-0 lead. Despite outshooting the Foresters 8-2, DU held just a 1-0 advantage at the break.
Lake Forest answered back in the 49th minute to knot it up at 1-1. The Stars responded with a service from
Randall Pietrowski to set up a goal by
John Cronnolly in the 50th minute to retake the lead. Castro would then set up teammate
Garrett Boston to close the door and add another goal in the 61st minute to take a sizable lead.
Ethan Orange then found the scoresheet late in the match to secure the 4-1 victory.
Dominican would outshoot Lake Forest 15-5 for the game with eight being on target.
The Stars are back in action tomorrow as they travel to Lake Forest for a 3:00pm kick-off with Foresters.
