LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Dominican University's men's soccer team defeated Lake Forest College for the second-straight day on Sunday, winning by a 3-1 score to complete the home-and-home series.
Much like Saturday's match, Dominican scored first on a goal from
Zachary Gamster in the 18th minute, which was assisted by
Vicente Castro. Castro continued to find his teammates in the first half, assisting
Alex Espino for a tally in the 34th minute. DU took this 2-0 advantage into the half time break.
Castro then got in on the scoring himself in the second half, scoring on a penalty kick in the 48th minute. Lake Forest managed one goal in response in the 78th minute, but the Star defense tightened up from there, winning by a 3-1 final score.
DU was dominant on the offensive end, racking up 16 shots, 13 on target. Gamster and Castro's goals were each their second of the season. Castro totaled a combined eight points in two matches against LFC, tallying two goals and four assists.
The Stars have now won two-straight and open up their NACC campaign on Wednesday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m., taking on IIT on the road. Live coverage will be available on dustars.com.
