CHICAGO – Dominican University's men's soccer program got its 2021 NACC campaign off to a good start on Wednesday evening, defeating Illinois Tech 3-1 on the road.
Garrett Boston opened up the scoring for the Stars in the 28th minute, netting a goal on an assist from
Vicente Castro. Holding a 1-nil lead at the break, Castro got in on the scoring after halftime, scoring on an assist from
Giovannie Ortiz in the 55th minute.
Illinois Tech answered back a short time later to make the score 2-1. A late goal from
Alex Espino sealed the win for DU in the 88th as Castro picked up his second assist of the match.
Castro has now totaled one goal and two assists in three straight matches. DU, who totaled 21 shots compared to IIT's two, is now riding a three-game winning streak.
The Stars return home for another NACC contest, taking on Lakeland on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 2:45 p.m. as part of Homecoming Weekend. Live action will be available on dustars.com.
