RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Dominican University's women's volleyball team fell to Benedictine University in its NACC home-opener on Wednesday evening, 3-1. 
 
Both sides played a very back-and-forth first set, but ultimately a late Benedictine run secured the opening frame for the visitors, 25-21. Parlaying that momentum into set two, the Eagles took a commanding early lead in the set and rode that to the finish line, taking a 2-0 lead. 
 
Dominican answered in the third set with an bounce-back performance to take a tight third set, 25-23. Benedictine regained its form in the fourth and final set, winning 25-16 and taking the match 3-1. 
 
For DU, Gabija Sinickaite was excellent offensively, totaling 15 kills at a .344 clip. Maya Green and Mia Febles also made solid contributions on the attacking end, especially in the third set, finishing with six and five kills, respectively. 
 
Sarah Lychock led the defensive effort with 13 digs, adding two assists. Olivia Mendell and Adeleen Dunker facilitated the offense, combining for 43 kills. 
 
Dominican is back on the road this weekend, traveling to Hope College to participate in its tournament on Sept. 17-18.
