HOLLAND, Mich. -- Dominican University's women's volleyball team wrapped up its two-day competition at the Hope College Invitational on Saturday, dropping contests with Muskingum University 3-1 and No. 9 Hope in straight sets.
Muskingum
DU got its second day off to a fast start, downing Muskingum 25-17 in the opening set. From that point, however, the Stars couldn't regain their form, falling in the final three frames by scores of 25-20, 25-9 and 25-19, respectively.
Gabija Sinickaite led the offense with nine kills while
Summer Smith and
Emily Schellhase chipped in seven each. Eight different attackers for Dominican registered at least one kill in the match. Defensively, four Stars had double-digit digs led by
Sofia Susa, who racked up 16 in four sets.
Adeleen Dunker and
Olivia Mendell paced the offense with 31 combined assists.
Hope
Dominican finished off its weekend with its second top-10 opponent, taking on host-Hope, and was downed 3-0. Sinickaite totaled eight kills at a blistering .318 clip while
Maya Green matched her with eight, hitting .294.
Sarah Lychock anchored the backline to the tune of 13 digs.
