RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Dominican University's baseball team fell 17-12 in a back-and-forth affair to Nebraska Wesleyan University on Tuesday morning in Orlando.
DU was on top 3-0 after its first at-bat, but NWU answered with five runs in their halves of the second and third innings. The Prairie Wolves stretched their advantage to 8-3 after 4.5, but a resilient Dominican pushed across eight in the bottom of the fifth to go in front 11-8.
NWU chipped away at this advantage with the score being 12-11 headed into the ninth inning. A six-run ninth from the Prairie Wolves secured NWU the 17-12 victory.
Matt Galdi led the offense with a 2-for-5 day, scoring twice and knocking in two.
Keegan Brandt also had two hits, adding a run scored and RBI.
Garrett Wano had one hit and two RBI, walking twice.
Jake Polonus homered and finished with two RBI and two runs scored.
