RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Dominican University's baseball program was defeated in a road doubleheader at Saint Norbert College on Saturday.
DU fell to the Green Knights in the opener 7-3 and was downed in the second game 8-4.
Game One
Hayden Young (4-1) went 7.0 innings and gave up 10 hits and five earned runs, striking out three.
Brandon Diedrich led the offensive effort with two RBI while
CJ Kalekas drove in Dominican's third run.
Grayson Downing,
Garrett Wano and
Dominic Desch each had two hits. Dominican took a 2-0 lead in the third, but SNC scored seven of the game's final eight runs to claim the win.
Game Two
Joey Haslam (0-1) started for DU, but was relieved by
Tyler Kara who went 4.1 innings and gave up just two hits and no runs. Diedrich and Kalekas both had an RBI in game two.
Braiden Galvin and
Jake Polonus, who homered, accounted for Dominican's other two runs.
Haslam gave up five runs in the first two innings, but Dominican brought the score to 5-4 after its half of the fourth. SNC picked up some late insurance and silenced the Star bats to claim the 8-4 win.
DU takes on Edgewood on Sunday, April 10 at 1 p.m. in Schaumburg for its third NACC doubleheader of the season. Live coverage will be available via dustars.com.
