Softball Swept at Benedictine

RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Dominican University's softball program was swept by Benedictine University in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play on Monday evening.

DU dropped the opener 5-1, snapping its program-record 16-game win streak. The Stars then fell in the second contest 9-3, suffering their first NACC series setback of the season.

Game One
Geneva Pollman's solo homer put DU ahead in the top of the third, but the Stars couldn't muster any more offense after that. The Eagles responded with two runs in the bottom of the fourth and three in the bottom of the fifth and maintained this advantage to the end.

Pollman went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Allyson Dilday (12-2) took the loss, pitching 6.0 innings while allowing six hits and five runs, three earned, and striking out four.

Game Two
Benedictine took an early 2-0 lead, but Dominican responded to knot the score at 2-all via a two-RBI single from Priscylla Rutter in the third. However, the Eagles scored a combined seven runs in their final three at-bats to seal the sweep.

Kailey Kirkwood led the offensive effort with two hits in three at-bats. Emma Woodhouse added the third RBI for DU. Woodhouse (6-1) suffered her first loss of the season in the circle, allowing five hits and five runs, all earned, over 4.0 innings.

DU takes on Concordia-Wisconsin on Saturday, April 16 at noon for its next NACC doubleheader. Links to live coverage will be available via dustars.com.
