RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Dominican University's baseball program downed Elmhurst University 15-12 in a high-scoring, non-conference affair on Tuesday afternoon on the road.
DU trailed by four runs after three innings, but continued to chip away, scoring 10 runs over the final three frames to claim the 15-12 win.
Payton Brooks (2-1) earned the win in relief, pitching 1.1 scoreless innings.
Tyler Ferraro pitched the final two frames and held Elmhurst to two runs while striking out five to secure the save.
Offensively, the Stars pounded out 13 hits led by
Matt Galdi, who went 4-for-6 with four RBI and two runs scored.
Grayson Downing posted a 3-for-5 day with three runs scored and two RBI.
Brandon Diedrich also had multiple hits and tacked on two RBI, courtesy of a two-run homer in the eighth.
Dominic Desch added three RBI from the lead-off spot. DU hit four home runs in the contest with Downing, Galdi, Diedirch and
Garrett Wano each going deep.
