RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Dominican University's softball program earned a split on the road at 15th-ranked Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) action.
DU bounced back from an 8-0 run-rule defeat in the first game with a 7-4 victory in the second game against the nationally-ranked Falcons.
Game One
CUW scored three in the first and kept Dominican at bay as a strong pitching performance propelled the Falcons to mercy-rule victory.
Kailey Kirkwood had the lone hit for the Stars.
Game Two
Dominican's offense came alive in the second game with seven runs in the first three innings.
Emma Woodhouse (8-1) held off a CUW comeback for the remainder of the game, pitching a complete game while striking out ten.
At the plate, Kirkwood went 3-for-4 with an RBI and run scored.
Geneva Pollman had a team-high two RBI from the leadoff spot.
Theresa Wilsterman and Woodhouse each had multiple hits and one RBI a piece.
Zoe Deeringer,
Liliana Santoyo and
Delaney McRiley rounded out the RBI for DU.
