RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Dominican University's softball program won the second game of its doubleheader with MSOE on Saturday to earn a split in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play.
DU secured a 5-3 defeat of the Raiders in game two after a 3-2 loss in the opener. Dominican is now 26-10 overall and 13-9 in the NACC.
Game One
DU scratched across one run in the bottom of the third, but the Raiders responded with a three-run top of the sixth to take control. A solo homer from
Theresa Wilsterman cut Dominican's deficit in half, but the Stars were held from there, falling 3-2.
Emma Woodhouse (9-4) took the defeat, pitching 6.0 innings while scattering six hits and walking six with five strikeouts. Wilsterman had a single, double and home run to lead the offensive effort.
Geneva Pollman added an RBI and a hit in three at-bats.
Game Two
Dominican opened the scoring with three first-inning runs, a lead that the Stars would not relinquish. MSOE plated three combined runs in the second and third, but DU tacked on insurance runs to counter in the those frames. No runs were scored by either side in the final four innings as DU claimed a critical 5-3 win.
Allyson Dilday (14-6), in her final home start, earned the win, pitching a complete game with eight strikeouts.
Delaney McRiley was 3-for-3 with two RBI. Pollman also reached based three times, going 2-for-2 with a walk and two RBI. Lilliana Santoyo also picked up an RBI for DU.
