RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Dominican University's baseball program earned a split in its Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) matchup with Marian University on Monday evening.
DU dropped game one to the Sabres 7-2 before claiming a 6-1 victory in the night cap.
Game One
Chris Kendziora (1-2) got the start and gave up six runs and eight hits in 4.2 innings. Dominican took a lead in the top of the fourth, but Marian plated three runs in the bottom half and added three more in the fifth to go ahead 6-1. The Sabres maintained their five-run advantage to the finish, winning 7-2.
Matt Galdi was 3-for-4 with and RBI.
Jake Polonus added the other RBI for DU.
Game Two
Justin Gasper (2-1) started the second game and was very effective, pitching 6.0 innings while giving up just three hits and one earned run.
Matthew Hannafin and
Jeremey Davidson combined for 3.0 scoreless innings to finish off the 6-1 win.
DU went ahead 3-0 early and continued to tack on runs as the game progressed.
Grayson Downing went 3-for-5 with two RBI.
Keegan Brandt was 2-for-3 with three runs scored.
Brandon Diedrich,
Zach Rigdon and
Dominic Desch accounted for one RBI each.
