RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Dominican University's baseball program defeated Maranatha Baptist in non-conference play on Thursday evening at Wintrust Field.

DU scored nine runs in the opening inning on its way to 23-1 run-rule victory. Tyler Ferraro (1-0) started as each pitcher for the Stars threw one inning. Tyler Kara, Ethan Shepherd, Jeremey Davidson, Dalton Rogers, Chris Randel and Carson Harvey all appeared in the game.

Garrett Wano was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and six RBI, including a grand slam. Grayson Downing was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI. Seth Hoffman and Rocco Chiarito both each had two hits in the game. Zach Rigdon also had a multi-hit performance, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored.

The Stars get back to NACC play this weekend, taking on St. Norbert on the road on Saturday, April 9 at noon in De Pere, Wis. Links to live coverage are available via dustars.com.
