Galesburg, Ill. - The Dominican University women's volleyball team split the day at the Knox College Invite, falling 3-0 to Knox before securing the 3-1 victory over Eureka College.
In game one against the Prairie Fire, Knox controlled most of the game with 44 team kills to the Stars' 30. The Stars would fall in three straight sets 26-24, 25-20, 29-27.
Vicky Krzyszkowski and
Cassidy Spies led the attack for the Stars with 9 kills each.
In game two against Eureka College, the Stars dropped the first set 25-20. That would be all the motivation the Stars needed as they would win the next three sets to secure the split. The Stars dominated the net with 49 kills with
Cassidy Spies and
Emily Schellhase leading the way with 14 and 11 kills respectively. Krzyszkowski led the defensive effort with four blocks as well.
The split moves the Stars to 3-3 on the season as they prepare for their home opener on Wednesday night against Rockford University at 7:00pm.
