Winter Haven, Fl. - The Dominican University softball team started their spring break trip with two games on Saturday.
The Stars took on Northwestern (MN) in the first game and Concordia-Moorhead in the second.
Game 1 Results:
Dominican: 5
UNWSP: 3
How it Happened:
-Dominican got off to a strong start in the first inning. They scored 4 runs highlighted by a 2-RBI single from freshman
Paytin Salfi.
-UNWSP scratched closer in the fourth inning with 3 runs to make it 4-3 after 4 innings.
-Dominican continued to add to their run total in the 6th inning to cap off the win. Junior
Kennedy Marvin had an RBI single.
Shining Stars:
-Salfi had another impressive performance with 2 RBIs.
-Marvin led the team with 2 hits and had an RBI and a walk as well.
-SophomoreÂ
Emma Woodhouse pitched 7 innings allowing just 1 earned run on 5 hits.

Game 2 Results:
Concordia-Moorhead:Â 3
Dominican: 11
How it Happened:
-Dominican once again got on the board first. They added 5 runs in the third inning with all five coming on a 2-out rally.
-Concordia-Moorhead fought back with 3 runs in the fourth inning.
-Dominican led 5-3 after four innings.
-The Stars weren't done there and they produced four runs in the fifth inning with a 2-RBI single from junior
Theresa Wilsterman
-DU then capped off their terrific performance with a two-run sixth inning and won 11-3.
Shining Stars:
-Salfi impressed with a home run and a double. She also drove in 4 runs.
-Wilsterman added 2 RBIs on 3 hits and scored a run.
-JuniorÂ
Kayla Faber-Cournane had a strong 6-inning outing with just one earned run.
