Schaumburg, Ill. - The Dominican University baseball team hosted Marian University for a double header on Saturday.
Game 1 Results:
MU: 9
DU: 2
How it Happened:
-The Stars fell behind in the top of the second inning with a run scoring on an error.
-DU's pitching from fifth-year
Hayden Young held the Sabres scoreless until the sixth inning.
-Young also set the all time strikeout record in DU program history.
-Dominican allowed two more runs to score in the top of the sixth and fell down 3-0.
-The Stars got their offense going in the bottom half of the sixth highlighted by an RBI single from senior
Garrett Wano.
-Marian led 3-2 after six innings.
-The offense for the Sabres carried momentum into the final three innings and would break the game open with 6 runs scoring.
Shining Stars:
-Wano had the lone RBI hit for the Stars and went 1 for 3.
-Junior
Gabe McCall had a multi-hit performance with 2 knocks.
-Young went 7 innings allowing just 2 earned runs and striking out 13 batters.

Game 2 Results:

How it Happened:
-The Stars fell behind in the top of the third inning with two runs scoring on a double from the Sabres.
-Sophomore
Ethan Shepherd settled in and pitched strong as he shut down the Sabres until the seventh inning.
-Marian was able to add a run in the seventh off a sac-fly.
-Dominican then got on the board in the bottom half of the inning with RBI singles from sophomore
CJ Kalekas and junior
Grayson Downing.
-The Stars added to the lead in the next inning to tie the game when sophomore
Braiden Galvin drove in a run with a single.
-The game went into extra inning and the Stars were able to snatch the win with a sac-fly from Tormey and a great slide from freshman
Zach Helein to avoid the tag.
Shining Stars:
-Downing had a three hit performance as he continues to lead the team in hits.
-Galvin was the only other Stars player with a multi-hit performance.
-Senior
Carson Harvey was great out of the bullpen going 4 innings strong and not allowing a hit or run.
