Schaumburg, Ill. - The Dominican University baseball team hosted Wisconsin Lutheran for a double header on Sunday.
Game 1 Results:

How it Happened:
-The Stars were able to snag the lead right in the first inning with an RBI single from junior
Matt Galdi.
-DU relied on junior
Payton Brooks as the starting pitcher and he shut down WLC with just a lone run scoring on an unearned sac bunt in the fourth.
-In the bottom half of the fourth, Galdi launched a no-doubt home run to right field and DU took the lead back 2-1.
-Dominican added an insurance run in the seventh on a sac fly from sophomore
CJ Kalekas.
-The Stars turned to Kalekas to shut the door and he only allowed one inherited runner to score.
Shining Stars:
-Galdi's 2 RBIs were the difference in the game.
-Sophomore
Braiden Galvin was the only other player to reach base more than once.
-Brooks went 7.1 innings with 7 strikeouts, and only one earned run.

How it Happened:
-The Stars were able to notch a run first in this game as well when senior
Austin Doty drove in a run with a single in the second.
-Senior
Garrett Wano added to the lead in the third inning with a 2-run double.
-Junior
Chris Kendziora got the call to start game 2 and he cruised through five innings with just a lone blemish in the fourth to make it 3-1.
-Dominican extended their lead in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI double from Kalekas and an RBI single from Galdi.
-WLC's best offensive inning came in the sixth as they were able to score three runs and make it 5-4.
-Wano came up clutch with a 2-run single in the seventh to add to lead.
-The Warriors scratched across another run in the eighth and the Stars led 7-5.
-Dominican strung hits together in the bottom of the eighth and capped off their day with two more runs.
-Junior
Joey Haslam earned the three-inning save and the Stars won 9-5.
Shining Stars:
-Wano had a big game with 4 of the 9 RBIs for the team.
-Junior
Grayson Downing and Galdi both had 3 hits apiece as well.
-Kendziora and Haslam both did their job and combined for 12 strikeouts.
