Stars Start Conference Season 4-0

Rosemont, Ill. - The Dominican University softball team hosted Edgewood College on Monday.

Game 1 Results:
EC: 1
DU: 2

How it Happened:
-Dominican's offense took some time to get going as they continue to get back in the swing after being off for so long.
-DU fell behind 1-0 in the second inning when they walked in a run.
-The Stars had excellent pitching once again from junior Kayla Faber-Cournane who went all 7 innings without allowing an earned run.
-Dominican was able to tie the game in the fourth on a bunt RBI.
-DU would then walk it off with a single from senior Giselle Castaneda.

Shining Stars:
-Junior Delaney McRiley reached base three times.
-Freshman Ryley Davis was the only other Stars player with two hits.
-Faber-Cournane went 7 innings, with 5 strikeouts, no earned runs, and allowed just 2 hits.

Game 2 Results:

How it Happened:
-The Stars once again fell behind early with a double that gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
-Dominican would then see that deficit grow to 2-0 after another RBI double in the top of the fourth.
-DU got their offense going in the bottom half of the inning with a bases-clearing 3-RBI double from Davis.
-Davis wasn't finished there as she added an extra insurance run in the sixth inning on another double.
-The Stars saw sophomore Emma Woodhouse and Faber-Cournane shut the door to earn DU's fourth consecutive conference victory.

Shining Stars:
-Davis provided all 4 of the Stars' runs and had 2 doubles.
-McRiley was the only other Stars player to reach twice.
-Faber-Cournane pitched the final 3 innings and didn't allow a hit.
